1. 1st Assembly in country to be fully solar powered:
Why in news?
Delhi Assembly set to become 1st in country to be fully powered by Solar Power
Aim of installing fully solar powered:
- The Delhi legislative assembly speaker, Vijendra Gupta and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, jointly laid the foundation stone of a 500 kilowatt solar power plant in the Delhi legislative assembly premises on 12 May 2025.
- The Rs 2 crore power project is expected to generate a cumulative 8,20,000 units which will be enough to meet the annual electricity requirement of 7,00,000 units of the assembly.

2. Atal Pension Yojana (APY):
About the launch and aim of the scheme:
- Launch Date: 09 May 2015
- Contribution: Monthly, quarterly, or half-yearly
- Entry Age: 18-40 years
- Pension: ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 per month after age 60, based on contribution.
- Implementing Agency: PFRDA (Through banks and post offices)
3. Social Security schemes (PMJJBY) complete 10 years

Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY):
- Launch Date: 09 May 2015
- Provides life insurance coverage, with a sum assured of Rs. 2 lakh in case of the insured’s death.
- Annual premium: Rs. 436/ year
- Entry Age: 18- 50 years
- Implementing Agency: LIC (Through banks and post offices) JPMJJBY
4. Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY):
Why in news?
- Launch Date: 09 May 2015
- Provides a sum of Rs. 2 lakh for accidental death or permanent disability.
- Rs1 lakh for partial disability
- Premium: Rs. 20/ year
- Entry Age: 18-70 years
- Implementing Agency: LIC (Through banks and post offices)

About NALSA:
- National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) is a key institution established to ensure legal services for weaker sections of society.
- NALSA was set up in 1995 under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
- The Chief Justice of India serves as the Patron-in-Chief of NALSA.

6. Everything About Aircraft Carrier INS Vikramaditya:
Why in news?
Everything About Aircraft Carrier INS Vikramaditya India acquired INS Vikramaditya from Russia in 2004 for $2.33 billion and underwent extensive modifications and upgrades.
Specifications and its working capacity:
- The ship was formally inducted into the Indian Navy on June 14, 2014, following its commissioning on November 16, 2013.
- It was previously known as Admiral Gorshkov and served in the Soviet/Russian Navy before being sold to India
- Modified Kiev-class aircraft carrier Displacement:
- 44,500 tons
- Length: 284 meters (932 ft)
- Width: 60 meters.
- Crew: Over 1,600 personnel Aircraft Capacity:
- INS Vikramaditya can carry a total of 36 aircraft, including 26 MiG-29K fighters and 10 Kamov Ka-31 AEW helicopters and Ka-28 ASW helicopters.
- Can endure 45 days at sea and has a maximum speed of over 30 knots.
- INS Vikramaditya is armed with anti-ship missiles, beyond visual range air-to-air missiles, guided bombs, and rockets, as well as close-in weapon systems (CIWS).
- INS Vikramaditya hosts a fully equipped hospital, and can serve as a humanitarian relief platform.
- It is the first Indian Navy ship to have an ATM.

International Nurses Day is celebrated on May 12th
About the day and its importance:
- Every year, May 12 marks International Nurses Day-a global tribute to the strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication of nurses who form the backbone of our healthcare systems.
- The day commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale -the pioneer of modern nursing.
- Known as “The Lady with the Lamp,”
- Florence Nightingale was British.
- While she was born in Florence, Italy on 12 May 1820 and named after the city of her birth.
- Nightingale revolutionized healthcare during the Crimean War and laid the foundation for nursing as a professional discipline.
- The idea for an annual day to recognize nurses was proposed by the International Council of Nurses (ICN) in 1953.
- However, it wasn’t until 1974 that May 12 was officially designated as International Nurses Day.
- Theme 2025: “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies”.
