    India to display sacred Buddha Relic of Sarnath in Vietnam for 1st time

    About the Sacred Buddha Relic And its history:

    • The Ministry of Culture will hold an exposition of the sacred Buddha Relic of Sarnath in Vietnam during the gala celebrations of the United Nations Day of Vesak 2025.
    • The exposition is being organised in collaboration with the International Buddhist Confederation.
    • On 01 May 2025, the relic will be transported to Ho Chi Minh City on a special Indian Air Force aircraft, escorted by senior monks.
    • The sacred Relic will be ceremoniously enshrined, venerated, and worshipped from 2 to 8 May 2025.

    Government hikes FRP of sugarcane to Rs 355 per quintal

    About the Government FRP hikes:

    • The government has decided to increase the fair and remunerative price (FRP) of sugarcane by 4.41% to 355 per quintal for the upcoming 2025-26 season beginning October.
    • For the current 2024-25 season, the sugarcane FRP was fixed at 340 per quintal.
    • FRP is the minimum price mandated by the Government of India that sugar mills are legally obligated to pay sugarcane farmers for their produce.

    Meghalaya govt signs MoU to include Garo, Khasi languages in Bhashini platform

    Aim of this Bhashini Platform:

    • Bhashini is an AI powered language translation platform, bridging literacy, language, and digital divides.
    • The inclusion of the Garo and Khasi languages enables Meghalaya to join a select group of states making their indigenous languages digitally accessible across the nation.
    • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the National Language Technology Mission known as ‘Digital India Bhashini’ on July 4, 2022.

    PM Modi, during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address on 28 April 2025, urged people to use the ‘Sachet’ mobile app to stay informed during natural disasters.

    About the launch and aim of this Sachet App:

    • ‘Sachet’ app, launched by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), offers real-time geotagged alerts on natural disasters like floods, cyclones, and earthquakes.
    • It provides weather reports and updates from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), available in 12 Indian languages.

    Shubhanshu Shukla to fly to International Space Station (ISS) on 29 May 2025

    About the Success of International Space Station:

    • Group Captain Shubahanshu Shukla will become the second Indian to go into space after Rakesh Sharma’s historic space journey in 1984.
    • He will be part of the Axiom 4 Mission, which will be launched on 29 May 2025 by the private American company Axiom Space Inc.
    • Shubhanshu, along with other 3 astronauts, will be launched on board the Spacex Crew Dragon capsule on a Falcon 9 rocket.
    • Shubhanshu Shukla will also be the first Indian to board an orbiting space station.

    About the aim of Kuiper Satellites:

    • Amazon has launched its 1st batch of 27 satellites for its Project Kuiper, aiming to offer global broadband internet & compete with SpaceX’s Starlink.
    • The Kuiper network is part of a $10 billion initiative to deploy 3,236 satellites in low-Earth orbit by 2026, with a focus on rural areas.
